It has been reported that the Council has now taken full control over Siglion- a firm set up to oversee development projects in Sunderland including the Vaux site shelling out a whopping £7.5m of taxpayers money.  Following linked firm Carrillion's collapse, this eye watering figure comes shortly after a time following the council pledging around £60m of taxpayers money for a new civic centre on the Vaux site bringing into question the ethics of the Council.

An SFT spokesman blasted the council stating "This is another foolish waste of public money.  Further, given that Siglion's accounts show £26m in fixed assets this could potentially put Siglion in a vulnerable situation if Carrillion's creditors come knocking!"
