Plans for a highly controversial incinerator proposal that uses a process called "gasification" is set to be approved by the council at a key meeting friday night.  Council chiefs claim this site with a colossal 57-metre chimney will help Nissan with production but this has been met with over 9000 signatures against this by skeptical locals in the Washington area.  Local group "No Monster Incinerator in Washington" claimed on their Facebook page that the application has to be referred to the Secretary of State before the council can give approval.

This meeting will take place at the Stadium of Light's Montgomery Suite on Friday, July 19 at 4.30pm.
