Sunderland For Transparency is an independent organisation established by the taxpayers of Sunderland. We have no affiliation with any Governmental body or Sunderland Council. We exist in order to scrutinise the Council, ensure value for money for taxpayers, and keep the Council, its members and its employees, honest and accountable to the public.

As such, we cannot assist you with problems that directly relate to Council services. If you would like to discuss your needs with housing, council tax, environmental policies, bin collections, allotments, highways or planning, or any other Council service, please contact your local Councillor from the Sunderland City Council website, or contact the Council directly.

If you have already attempted this route and you feel that the Council are not listening to your concerns, not taking your opinions seriously or "whitewashing" you in any way, please feel free to get in touch, let us know about your case details, and we will help in any way possible. Similarly, if you feel that your elected Councillor does not represent you effectively, is not taking up your concerns or objections, is not working for the good of the wider community, or is rude or abusive to you, please let us know about your case and we will work with you to expose this wrongdoing to the community, and hopefully reach a resolution.

We do not get involved in the politics of this, so we urge you to report any political party on the Council who you may have witnessed wrongdoing from. We have and will expose wrongdoing regardless of the colour of a political rosette.

If you have information or allegations about a potential scandal, suspect land deal, financial corruption, fraud, abuse of power, inside information or any form of wrongdoing or other suspected illegal activities within or surrounding Sunderland Council, we can assist you with this. Please contact us and explain the situation, and we will do our best to help.

If you are a Council worker and would like to whistle blow wrongdoing or contact us, you can rest assured that all information we receive is classified. Any identifying personal information on you will be stripped and remain confidential from any content we publish, unless you specifically request that we publish it. All information we receive remains stored on our secure server only, and is not available to the general public.

If you have information on or allegations of wrongdoing by a Councillor and would like to pass this to us, we can also assist you with this.

Due to high volume of support requests and staff numbers, we are unable to take on cases which do not directly relate to Sunderland. If you are unsure whether your query falls into any of the above categories, feel free to contact us still, however do keep in mind that we may not be able to assist you. When this is the case our staff will try their best to point you in the right direction, but you will obviously encounter additional delays by doing so.
